Situation


Now in its seventh year, the Minnesota Cup is a statewide business plan competition that seeks out aspiring entrepreneurs and their breakthrough ideas. This program was founded in 2005 by Magnet 360 co-founders Scott Litman and Dan Mallin and is hosted by Wells Fargo, the U of M and Carlson Companies. Over the past few years, the program has evolved into being a critical element of the DNA of entrepreneurism in our state with over 6,000 participants and 2009 & 2010 Finalist raising over $30MM in new capital.

Outcome


Leveraging a half dozen members of the Magnet 360 network including Kenyon, Haberman, Valtira and Strong Suit Media, Magnet 360 has developed a fully integrated, state wide program that generates over 15 Million media impressions and attract over 1,000 participants each year. This campaign has been instrumental in establishing the program, securing sponsors, growing participation and establishing the Minnesota Cup as a successful and important part of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the state of Minnesota.
